Men's Basketball Finishes Regular Season At Marist

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University men's basketball team finishes up the regular season when it heads to Marist College for a Sunday afternoon game. The game tips off at 2 pm and will broadcasted on ESPN3.

Marcus Gilbert scored a team-high nine points as the Stags fell to Manhattan in a 34-31 decision on Friday. All of Gilbert's points came from behind the three-point line as 18 of Fairfield's 31 points were a result of the three-point shot. The Stags led at halftime and owned a lead late in the game at 31-29. Manhattan tallied the last five points of the game to complete the come back win. Colin Nickerson assisted on the team's first three three-point baskets against Manhattan and finished the game with four assists. He has dished off 15 assists over the last four games, the most assists he has had in a four-game stretch in his career. For the season, Nickerson 74 assists against 45 turnovers for a +29 margin. Only Desmond Wade's +40 margin (97 assists, 57 turnovers) surpasses Nickerson.

Marist improved to 9-20 with its 76-74 win over Siena College behind a strong effort by Adam Kemp. The junior tallied 24 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocked shots to pace Marist in its road win. Devin Price came off the bench to add 18 points to the cause. Chavaughn Lewis is the team's top scorer overall, averaging 16.2 points per game.

Kemp remains one of the conference's most accurate shooters, netting 55 percent of his shots to place him in a first-place tie with Manhattan's Rhamel Brown. He is the team's top rebounder with 8.6 per game and has three games in which he has scored 20 or more points and grabbed 10 or more rebounds this month. The Red Foxes have found their scoring touch over the last month, scoring more than 100 points in two of its last six games. The team netted 112 points against VMI, the most points scored in 19 years, and tallied 105 points in a double-overtime win against Iona.
