FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University men's basketball team will try for its fifth straight win on Thursday night when the Stags host Saint Peter's University in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) game. The contest is slated for a 7 pm tip at Webster Bank Arena.

The Stags are coming off their second straight 10-point win, defeating Siena College by a 64-54 count on February 4 after posting a 69-59 decision over Rider University of February 1. All four wins during this current win streak have come against MAAC opponents. Fairfield enjoyed a six-game win streak earlier in the season but four of those victories were against non-conference foes.

During the current streak, Maurice Barrow has been finding the bottom of the net quite often. The junior has made 21 of his 33 field goal attempts for a .636 field goal percentage. The fact his accuracy has flourished against MAAC opponents during this four-game run should be no surprise since he places third for field goal percentage in conference-only games (51 of 93 - .548).

Fairfield remains the top defensive team in the MAAC, ranking first in both team defense and field goal percentage defense. The opposition is scoring just 60.9 points per game and is shooting just .410 from the field. The Stags rank third in three-point field goal percentage with a .319 percentage.

Saint Peter's owns a 7-15 overall record and a 2-10 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) slate following a 57-49 loss to Manhattan College last Sunday. The Peacocks posted a 24-20 lead at halftime, but was the Jaspers rallied in the second half to win the contest.

Desi Washington paced the Saint Peter's offense with 16 points, while Yvon Raymond added 12 points.Washington's play against Manhattan continues a trend that he has enjoyed all season long, checking into tonight's game as the team's leading scorer. The guard is one of two student-athletes averaging better than 10 points per game, netting 14.4 points every forty minutes. Raymond is next in line with 10.5 points per game, while his 5.4 rebounds per game is tops among his teammates.
