Reco McLaren Named To NSCAA All-Region First Team

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Reco McLaren (Bridgeport, Conn.) earned a berth on the 2013 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-North Atlantic team first team following another outstanding season with the Fairfield University men's soccer team. The forward was one of 11 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) student-athletes to earn the honor this season.

For the second straight season, the senior led the team in scoring. This year, McLaren tallied eight goals and three assists for 19 points which included five game-winning goals. He transferred to Fairfield University for the 2012 campaign and quickly established himself as one of the program's all-time leading scorers. He finished his career with 15 goals and four assists, tying him for eighth on the Stags' all-time career goals list. His eight goals in 2013 tie him for seventh on Fairfield's all-time single-season scoring list. McLaren was an All-MAAC selection as a junior and as a senior.

The Fairfield University men's soccer team, under Head Coach Carl Rees, finished the 2013 season with an 8-5-3 overall record and a 5-3-2 MAAC mark. The team tied for fourth in the MAAC regular-season standings with 17 points. The Stags were ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) regional rankings nine times this year, including a seventh-place finish in the final regular-season poll.
