FAIRFIELD, Conn.
- The Fairfield University field hockey team will make their second consecutive appearance in the America East Championship Tournament on November 7. The fourth-seeded Stags will take on top-seeded New Hampshire at 2pm on Memorial Field in Durham, N.H.

The 2013 bracket is exactly the same as last year's. After the Stags and the Wildcats square off, second-seeded Albany will face third-seeded Maine at 5 p.m. The two winners will meet for the America East title on Saturday, Nov. 9. The league champion will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament's field of 16 teams.

Head Coach Jackie Kane has guided the Stags to an 11-6 overall record this season, the most victories since 2001, along with a pair of conference wins. Fairfield is coming off a 6-1 win over Brown on Sunday.

The Stags and the Wildcats last met in their regular season conference finale on November 1. Fairfield fell to No. 20 New Hampshire in a 4-0 decision at Memorial Field. New Hampshire has an overall record of 13-6 and an America East record of 5-0. The Wildcats are coming off a 2-1 victory over Dartmouth last Sunday. Junior goalkeeper Carlie Tarbell has posted 105 saves on the season while sophomore Meg Flatley is the team's leading scorer tallying 15 goals with four assists for a total of 34 points. Senior Hannah Richard is a close second, totaling 11 goals for 22 points. The semifinal game will be the ninth time that the Stags have faced off against the Wildcats since 2007.

Fairfield has had one of their best seasons to date with NCAA top 25 rankings in five different categories. The Stags hold the seventh spot in assists per game (2.82), and the 11th spot in both penalty corners per game (8.18) and points per game (9.06). Fairfield is also ranked 14th in goals per game (3.12) and No. 18 in scoring average (2.97). Along with the team rankings, two different Stags hold spots in the top-25 on the NCAA statistical leaderboards. Junior Felicitas Heinen holds the 10th spot in goals per game (0.94) and is 11th in points per game (2.24) with her 16 goals and six assists on the season. Teammate Valerie Buurma is tied for the 16th spot in assists per game (0.59) with 10 assists on the season.
