- The Fairfield University field hockey team fell to No. 20 New Hampshire, 4-0, this afternoon at Memorial Field. The Stags have now concluded America East play with a 2-3 record.

Action started early as Fairfield took the first shot of the game only 2:39 into the first half. Junior Felicitas Heinen took the shot, which was blocked, off a penalty corner by Emily Leo. New Hampshire answered with a shot by Meg Flatley, which was saved by Stags goalkeeper Caitlin Bennett. The game remained scoreless for most of the first half until the Wildcats' Hannah Richard scored at 28:54. The Stags continued to battle as Julie de Paeuw and Heinen both took shots before halftime, but came up short. New Hampshire had a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead early into the second half when Flatley scored her first goal of the game at 40:18. About five minutes later, Flatley scored her second goal, giving New Hampshire a 3-0 lead. The Wildcats took nine more shots in the second half, with Bennett saving four. The clock ran out as the last goal of the game was scored by the New Hampshire's Megan Bozek, off a penalty corner. The final score was 4-0.

Rookie goalkeeper Bennett tallied six saves while New Hampshire's Carlie Tarbell totaled two.

Fairfield (10-6) will close out the regular season on Sunday when the Stags host Brown at University Field at 1pm.
