NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Reco McLaren made his Fairfield University debut this evening and did not disappoint as the junior tallied the game-winning goal in the first half, lifting the Stags men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Columbia University.

Fairfield managed three shots in the game with McLaren and Perkins comprising the offensive attempts. Perkins came off the bench to tally one shot while McLaren took two shots in his first start with the Stags. The duo would combine for the game's only goal in the 33rd minute. Perkins sent a cross from the far corner which McLaren finished at 33:13 to give the Stags a 1-0 lead.

The Stags defense was flawless, as the unit yielded 10 shots in the game but only three made it on goal. Goalkeeper Michael O'Keeffe was equal to each of those attempts, making two saves in the first half and one more in the final 45 minutes.

Fairfield will return to action on Monday, September 3 when it hosts nationally-ranked Boston College at Lessing Field. The game is slated for a 7 pm start.
