FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Stags Country, a 30-minute sports magazine show, will air the final installment of the 2011-12 season on Saturday, April 14 on SportsNet New York (SNY). The show will begin at 1 pm and will be seen throughout the SNY network. The show will also air on SNY-Connecticut on Sunday, April 15 (8:30 am), Thursday, April 19 (noon), and Saturday, April 21 (7 pm).
As always, the sports magazine show will offer a variety of feature stories on Fairfield University's student-athletes, coaches, and athletics program. This edition will include season wrap-ups for men's and women's basketball, an inside look at the softball progarm, a feature on first-year Head Baseball Coach
Bill Currier, as well as features on the men's and women's lacrosse teams.
Also, this edition's student spotlight story includes an interview with men's basketball student-athletes Sean Crawford, Rakim Sanders, and Jamel Fields, who shaved their heads in support of St. Baldrick's Foundation. The Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.
The show is hosted by Noah Finz, who is the sports director at WTNH-TV Channel 8 in New Haven. Stags Country is produced by the Fairfield University media center which includes a combination of the department's staff and students. This edition marks the seventh show since the emmy-award nominated program debuted in 2009-10.
