Softball Extends Win Streak To Four Games With Swe

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Another day at the Rebel Games led to another sweep for the Fairfield University softball team. The Stags posted a win over Fairleigh Dickinson University by a 4-0 count, and added a 12-4 win over Bryant University in the night cap. The team extended its winning streak to four games with the sweep.

Against Bryant, the Stags used two big innings to put away the Bulldogs, starting with a five-run first inning. Lauren Liseth started the rally with an RBI single that sent home Sammy Ruffolo each drove home a run in the inning, while Sam Frungillo laced a two-run double to cap the five-run inning.

The Stags would later surpass that first inning output with six runs in the fifth frame. Kristen Filicia and Mikayla Shumate sent home the first two runs when each drew a bases loaded walk. Liseth followed with another RBI single to bring home the third Fairfield run in the inning. Alli Wigand was next to the batter's box and she responded with a two-run double that chased two more runners across home plate. .Emily Orr finished the scoring with a sacrifice fly

Rae Ball earned the win by allowing just one hit and fanning three hitters in her three-plus innings of work. Orr finished the game for the Stags, tossing the final one-plus innings to nail down the victory.

Fairfield started the day with a shutout against Fairleigh Dickinson, posting a 4-0 win in the morning matchup. .Once again, the Stags scored in its first at-bat. Filicia started the game with a single and went to second on a ground out. She took third base following another ground out and finally gave the Stags a 1-0 lead when Wigand sent a sacrifice fly to right field.

The team added another run in the fifth inning, courtesy of an RBI single from Filicia. The score went to 3-0 in the sixth inning and the final run was recorded in the seventh inning. Filicia drove home the team's fourth run with a sacrifice fly.

Rebecca Trott earned the win for the Stags by surrendering just two hits in five innings. Orr finished up the game by tossing the final two innings, yielding just one hit in her stint.
