The Fairfield University women's soccer team saw its 2012 campaign come to a close in the semifinals of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship, falling 1-0 to third-seeded Loyola University Maryland.  The Stags finish the year 11-6-2 overall, while the Greyhounds improve to 11-5-4.

Fairfield had a shot advantage, 16-7, and an 11-1 corner kick edge, but Loyola tallied the lone goal of the game with 18:45 to play. Melissa Lookingland sent a free kick from 30 yards out to the head of Kelsey Rene who headed the ball home.

Carly Beyar just missed giving the Stags the lead early in the second half, driving a ball off the underside of the crossbar, which was ruled not to have crossed the goal line.  Sarah Frassetto corralled the rebound and put the shot on cage, but Didi Haracic made the save.

Haracic finished with seven saves, including four in the second-half.  Kathleen Early stopped three shots in goal for Fairfield.
