BOSTON, Mass. – The Fairfield field hockey team finished their regular season this afternoon with a loss to No. 15 Boston University, 6-2.
The first half of the afternoon game was an offensive show. The Terriers got on the board first in the seventh minute on a goal by Ella Gunson off a corner kick taken by Tabi Hatch. Boston added two more to their lead within the next ten minutes. Hatch scored a goal of her own on an assist by Rachel Coll and freshman Sofi Laurito put it past Fairfield goalkeeper

The Stags made it 3-1 in the 21st minute on a goal by
Felicitas Heinen, her 15th of the season. She took advantage of a rebound and narrowed the margin, putting the Stags down by two. Boston University responded with two more goals, making the score 5-1. Junior
Christy Starsinic had her sixth goal of the season off a deflected shot. The Terriers added one final goal to their tally in the first half.
The score of 6-2 held throughout the second half.
Lindsey Hatch and Heinen lead the team with three shots on goal during the game while Sposito posted eight saves on the day. Boston University goalkeepers Jess Maroney and Valentina Cerda split the game even and both finished with three saves.
The Stags finish the regular season with a 10-9, 1-4 AE record and will be advancing to the America East Championship Tournament. Fairfield has clinched the No. 4 spot in the tournament and will face No. 1 seeded New Hampshire in a semifinal game on Friday, November 2 in Durham, N.H. For more information,
