NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y -- The Fairfield University men's soccer team fell to Niagara University just three minutes into overtime to post a 1-0 decision in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) game.
Bryan Da Cruz ended the game with an unassisted goal at 92:41, the team's 13th shot of the game. It was the only shot of the extra periof for either team. The Purple Eagles enjoyed a four-shot advantage in the game as the Stags posted nine attempts in the contest.
Reco McLaren paced the Stags offense by taking three of the team's shots.
Nuno Rodrigues was the only other Stag to have multiple shots in the game with two.
Goalkeeper Michael O'Keeffe kept the Stags in the game throughout its duration, finishing the game contest with five saves Niagara goalkeeper Brett Petricek made two saves to record the shutout, both of which came in the first half. Niagara's defense yielded only one shot after halftime
The Stags finish up their two-game road trip to upstate New York by playing Canisius College on Sunday afternoon.
