Men's Soccer Continues MAAC Play At Saint Peter's,

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The season's longest road trip concludes this weekend for the Fairfield University men's soccer team as the Stags play a pair of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) games on Friday and Sunday. Saint Peter's University is first on the docket with a Friday afternoon game, followed by a Sunday morning game against Manhattan College. The two games represent the third and fourth straight road games for the team.

The Stags dropped their MAAC opener to Iona College last weekend, falling by a 4-2 count. Dan Shaw and Jake Zuniga each scored their first goal of the campaign in that game, the first time that the duo scored in the same game since last year's NCAA tournament game against Brown University. Jordan Ayris remains the team's top scorer with three goals for six points, while Reco McLaren places second with two goals and four points, the only other Fairfield student-athlete with multiple goals.

Saint Peter's enters Friday's game with a 2-9 overall record and a 0-2 MAAC mark, dropping its last eight games after a 2-1 start. The Peacocks defeated Seton Hall and Lehigh as part of the first three outings, scoring seven times in those first three games. In the current eight-game streak, Saint Peter's has tallied four goals and been shutout four times.

Ten of the team's 11 goals scored this year have been a result of the efforts from Noah Sadaoui and Jacob Robertson. Sadaoui leads the team with seven goals and one assist with one game winner while Robertson checks in with three goals for six points with one game-winning tally. Carlos Suarez has earned most of the minutes in the Saint Peter's goal, owning a 2.02 goals against average with a .727 save percentage.

Manhattan lost its first eight games of the season before ending the string with a 1-0 win over Marist College in its MAAC opener. The Jaspers used a goal from Reese Akers in the 32nd minute to propel the team to victory. George Ellis made five saves to earn the shutout.

Tommy Amos leads the team in scoring with three goals for six points, while Eugene Heerschap, Naru Park, Alex Shackley, and Akers have also netted one goal on the year. Ellis owns a 2.34 goals against average with a .667 save percentage.

Following this weekend, Fairfield returns home for a pair of MAAC games which includes a Friday night match up with Rider University at 7 pm and a Sunday afternoon game with Loyola University at 1 pm. Both games will be played at Lessing Field.
