Volleyball Travels To Holly Young Invitational

Fairfield wraps up the tournament portion of its schedule Friday and Saturday at the Holly Young Invitational hosted by the University of New Hampshire. Action gets underway on September 9 with a 4:30pm match against UConn. The Stags will face UNH and Indiana State on September 10 beginning at 12:30pm.

Fairfield (2-5) vs. UConn (4-3): The Stags will meet the Huskies for the first time since Fairfield's impressive come-from-behind victory at Alumni Hall in 2009. In that match, the Stags edged UConn 3-2 (14-25, 25-17, 25-17, 17-25, 15-9), out-blocked them 13-8 and held the Huskies to a .176 attack percentage. Individually, Brianna Dixion had 14 kills, seven total blocks, and eight digs while Lauren Balmert had a double-double (44ast/10dig). Haililani Pokipala posted 16 digs while Kara Reis finished with 12 digs. Fairfield is 3-15 all-time against UConn.

Fairfield vs. UNH (0-8): Fairfield and UNH last met at the 2006 Fairfield Invitational where the Stags downed the Wildcats, 3-0. Fairfield, which is 10-1 all-time against UNH, has taken the last three meetings. The last Wildcats victory came in 2002 when they edged the Stags, 3-2, at Alumni Hall.

Fairfield vs. Indiana State (4-3): Indiana State and Fairfield will face each other for the first time in 15 seasons. The first and only meeting came in 1996 when the Stags opened their season with a 3-0 loss to the Sycamores in Alumni Hall.
