Volleyball Heads To Hofstra Invitational

Fairfield, still seeking out its first victory, will play four matches at the 2011 Hofstra Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Stags will face Princeton at 11:30am and Hofstra at 7pm on September 2 followed by NJIT at 1pm and St. Francis (NY) at 5pm on September 3.

Fairfield (0-3) vs. Princeton (0-0): The Tigers and the Stags last met in 2000 when Fairfield toppled Princeton, 3-0 (15-5, 15-3, 15-5.) In that match, Joanne Saunders notched 23 kills and 13 digs to lead the Stags to its 20th win of the season. Fairfield is 3-1 all-time against Princeton.

Fairfield vs. Hofstra (3-0): The Stags and the Pride have split the last six meetings with one another. Last season, Hofstra topped the Stags 3-0 (28-26, 25-20, 25-23) in Hempstead, N.Y. In that match, Haililani Pokipala had seven kills while Rachel Romansky registered 23 assists. Fairfield's last victory came in 2008 when they pulled out a 3-2 road victory. The Stags are 5-7 all-time against the Pride.

Fairfield vs. NJIT (1-1): The first and only meeting between the Highlanders and the Stags came on September 1, 2007 at the St. John's Invitational in Queens, N.Y. In that match, Fairfield topped NJIT by a score of 3-0.

Fairfield vs. St. Francis-NY (0-4): Fairfield has taken the two previous meetings from St. Francis. The last outing came in 1996 with the Stags posting a 3-0 victory.
