Women's Basketball Closes Regular Season At Marist

Game Notes

The Fairfield University women's basketball team will close out the regular season on the road Sunday afternoon with a date at Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) regular season champion Marist College.  The 2 p.m. game, which can be heard live on WVOF 88.5 FM with John Cummings and Maria Conlon calling the action live from the McCann Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

The Stags have lost three straight games to fall to 17-11 overall and 10-7 in MAAC play.  They are the only league opponent to have a game versus Marist decided by fewer than 10 points, falling 54-52 on February 6 when the teams met at Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard.  Marist has won 22 straight games and clinched the outright MAAC regular season crown with its win on Friday night at Siena.  The Red Foxes are 26-2 overall and 17-0 in conference play.

Sunday's game will determine the color of the uniform the Stags wear at the upcoming Spark Energy MAAC Championships March 3-7 at Webster Bank Arena.  Already locked into the four-five game versus Siena, a Stags win on Sunday, coupled with a Siena loss to Canisius would make Fairfield the number four-seed.  A Fairfield loss, or Siena win, makes the Stags the fifth-seed in the 3:30 p.m. quarterfinal on Friday March 4.
