FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Yorel Hawkins scored a team-high 13 points while Maurice Barrow added nine points and a career-high 16 rebounds to lead the Fairfield University men's basketball team (23-5 overall, 15-2 MAAC) to a 68-55 win over Siena College (11-17, 7-10). The win set a school record for most in the regular-season surpassing the 1977-78 team's 22 wins. More then 5,200 fans packed the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard to celebrate the team's senior night.

Siena scored the first four points of the game in the paint as Ryan Rossiter and OD Anosike both scored off a layup. Fairfield answered with five straight points to take its first lead of the game, the last of which came off a three-point shot from Derek Needham. A put-back basket by Anosike regained the lead for Siena, bt the Stags responded with four straight points from Colin Nickerson to take a 9-6 lead with 16 minutes remaining in the half.

Rossiter pulled the visiting team within a point with another inside basket, but Warren Edney added to the Stags advantage with a three-point shot that made the score 12-8. Maurice Barrow pushed the edge to six points with a layup at 14-8. Siena put together a small spurt that brought the team back to within a point at 14-13. Fairfield used a 7-1 run to take a seven point lead at 21-14, a lead which would reach as many as 13 points in the opening half. After Yorel Hawkins' jumper, the score stood at 33-20 in Fairfield's favor.

Fairfield would settle on a nine-point half time lead at 37-29, with Lyndon Jordan leading all scorers with 10 points.

Siena came out of the locker room with a fast start that nearly erased that halftime lead. The Saints scored eight of the half's first nine point that made the score 38-37 with 15:27 remaining in the game. Fairfield's defense, which entered the game ranked fifth for scoring defense, clamped down on the Saints from that point. Siena managed just three points over the next nine minutes which allowed Fairfield to retake its double-digit lead at 50-40 after Nickerson posted a pair of free throws at the seven-minute mark.

Yorel Hawkins connected on a base-line jumper to give the Stags a 12-point lead at 52-40. Rossiter finally stopped four-minute drought with a layup with just under five minutes remaining. Fairfield's lead reached as many as 15 points after Hawkins' layup gave the Stags a 61-46 win with 2:44 remaining.
