Volleyball Closes Out Regular Season On Saturday N

Fairfield, which has won 15 of its last 17, will play its final regular season match on Saturday when the Stags travel to Iona College for a 7pm contest.

Fairfield (18-9; 15-2 MAAC) vs. Iona (12-13; 9-8 MAAC): It was just under a month ago when the Gaels and the Stags last squared off. In that match, Fairfield pulled out a 3-2 victory over Iona in Alumni Hall. Junior Brianna Dixion notched a match-best 21 kills, one shy of a career high, and nine digs along with three total blocks. Freshman Caitlin Stapleton tallied a career-best 15 kills and tied a career-best with six total blocks, including three solo blocks. Senior Haililani Pokipala registered 14 kills on .324 hitting with nine assists. Junior Kara Reis recorded a career-high 32 digs to go along with three aces and five assists. Her 32 digs tied the second-highest single match total in program history.

Looking Ahead To The MAAC Championship: Fairfield has secured a berth in the 2011 MAAC Championship tournament which will be held November 19-20 at Saint Peter's College in Jersey City, N.J.  The Stags have secured the at least the number two seed in the tournament.  For complete information about the event and how to order tickets, visit MAAC Championship Central.
