NEW HAVEN, Conn.
– Fairfield field hockey fell to Yale University by a 6-0 score this afternoon..

For the Stags, there wasn't much action offensively as the Bulldogs outshot Fairfield 38-8 with the Stags getting just four shots on goal over the course of the 70 minutes.  Fairfield's Shealyn Testa, Christy Starsinic, and Lindsey Hatch were the ones who got shots off on goal but were unable to put the ball past Yale goalkeeper Emily Cain who had three saves on the day.  At the net for the Stags was goalkeeper Caitlin O'Donnell earning seven saves on the day as Fairfield defender Valerie Buurma added a defensive save to the tally.

Each goal for the Bulldogs was a result of a penalty corner.  With six goals total, the Yale offense pushed three past O'Donnell in each half.  The scoring started at the 18:25 mark with Taylor Sankovich who scored with assists from Dinah Landshut and Jessie Accurso, followed just a minute later with senior defender Erin Carter scoring her first goal of the game.  The scoring for the first half closed out with Carter's second of four at 31:28 with assists from Chelsey Locarno and Erica Borgo.

The second half started much like the first with the first goal about 15 minutes into the half.  Carter started the scoring for the second period at the 48:29 minute mark unassisted.  The Bulldogs didn't score again until the 64:48 mark when Georgia Holland pushed it past Stag goalkeeper O'Donnell with another assist by Landshut.  Yale and Carter's final goal of the game came only three minutes later with Landshut's third assist of the day giving the Bulldogs the 6-0 victory.

With only three games left in the season, Fairfield will travel next to Burlington, Vt. on October 22 to take on the University of Vermont at noon.
