Volleyball Closes Out Home Stand On Saturday

Fairfield, which has won seven straight matches and eight of its last nine, will have just one match this week. The Stags close out their six-match home stand on Saturday, October 15 when Iona College visits Alumni Hall at 2pm.

Prior to the match, the Stags will honor its senior class of: Lauren Balmert, Kendal Dirkin, Haililani Pokipala, Amanda Steiger, and Bethany Steiger.

Fairfield (11-8; 8-1 MAAC) vs. Iona (9-7; 6-2 MAAC): The Stags and the Gaels split last season's series, with Iona posting a 3-1win in the first meeting and Fairfield notching a 3-2 victory in the second. The Stags have taken four of the last five meetings with the Gaels and are 32-10 all-time against them. Senior Haililani Pokipala has notched 42 kills, 10 aces, 51 digs, and six blocks against the Gaels over her career. Junior Kara Reis averages 5.25 digs per set against Iona.

Big MAAC Attack: Fairfield is 8-1 in the MAAC so far this season due in part to a strong attack. The Stags are averaging 13.80 kills per set in MAAC matches, 3.69 more than the opponents they have faced. Fairfield has also presented a solid defense, averaging 17.69 digs per set in MAAC matches, which is 4.06 more per set.

Streaking Stags: Fairfield's seven-match winning streak is the longest since 2009 when the Stags rattled off nine consecutive victories.
