Volleyball Visits Hofstra Midweek, Opens Play At A

Fairfield, winners of two in a row, will take a break from MAAC play and head to Hofstra for its first midweek match on September 22. On Saturday, the Stags host Manhattan at 2pm for their first match in Alumni Hall this season after spending their first 13 on the road. Fairfield then travels to Siena on September 26.

Hofstra will be providing Live Stats as well as Live Video (fee) for Wednesday's match. Siena will also be providing GameTracker and Live Video (fee). As always, Live Stats are available for all home contests free of charge.

Home Sweet Home: Dating back to 1995, the Stags are 15-2 in home openers. Over the course of the last four regular seasons, the Stags are 40-3 in Alumni Hall. Since 2003, Fairfield has a 49-1 overall record against MAAC opponents in Alumni Hall; the lone loss in that stretch was to Siena in the 2007 MAAC Championship final.

Fairfield vs. Hofstra: The Stags and the Pride last met in 2008 with Fairfield pulling out a 3-2 road victory in its season opener. In that match, Alex Lopez, Lauren Hughes, and Lauren Balmert all forged double-doubles. Lopez finished with 18 kills and 17 digs, Hughes recorded 14 kills and 10 digs, and Balmert had 49 assists and 16 digs. Fairfield is 5-6 all-time against Hofstra.

Fairfield vs. Manhattan: The Stags have taken the last 10 meetings from Manhattan, including 3-0 and 3-1 victories last season. Junior Alex Lopez has tallied 14 kills and 19 digs in three matches against the Jaspers.
Fairfield vs. Siena: Fairfield and Siena have a long-standing rivalry. From 2005 until 2008, the Saints and the Stags comprised the MAAC Championship final, with Siena taking each of those contests. Since 2005, the Stags have taken seven of the 13 meetings between the two teams. The two squads split last season's series, each with 3-1 victories. Fairfield is 23-15 against Siena.
