Erik Ilisije (Manalapan, N.J.) and goalkeeper
Michael O'Keeffe (Christchurch, N.Z.) earned weekly honors from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) after leading the Stags men's soccer team to a 1-0-1 week.
Ilisije scored both goals in a 2-1 double overtime victory against Yale University, giving the Stags their first win of the season. He tallied the tying goal in the second half, before winning the game a minute into the second overtime. He currently leads the team in scoring with four points.
O'Keeffe recorded his first shutout of the season in a 0-0 tie against the University of Massachusetts, making four saves in the game. He also made four saves and allowed one goal in the victory against Yale earlier in the week. For the season, O'Keeffe has a 1.09 goals against average after allowing five goals in just over 400 minutes of work.
The Fairfield University men's soccer team, under Head Coach
Carl Rees, is in the midst of a seven-game home stand to start the 2010 season. The Stags put their 1-1-2 overall record on the line against nationally-ranked Boston College on September 14. The Eagles, who were ranked fifth in the last NSCAA national poll, enters the game with a 2-0-1 record after tying nationally-ranked Maryland in their last outing.
