The Stags head to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex for the 2010 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship, November 18-20, in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Fairfield, the fifth-seed, will face fourth-seeded Manhattan on Thursday at 2pm in the opening round.

The Stags In Florida: The Stags have appeared at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex three times. In 1998, Fairfield captured its second-consecutive MAAC Championship with a 3-0 win against Siena. In 2002, the Stags were eliminated by Loyola, 3-2. In 2006, the Stags were edged by Siena, 3-2, in the finals.
Fairfield & The MAAC Championship: Fairfield had a string of MAAC Championships between 1997-2001. Since then, the Stags have gone 21-12 in MAAC Championship action. Seven of those losses have come in the MAAC Championship final, including five-straight between 2004-08. Last season, Marist knocked the Stags out of the tournament with a semifinal victory, snapping Fairfield's appearance streak.
#5 Fairfield (11-19; 10-8 MAAC) vs. #4 Manhattan (18-13; 11-7 MAAC): The Stags and the Jaspers last met on November 6 where Manhattan toppled Fairfield, 3-0 (18-25, 10-25, 12-25). The Jaspers had dropped the previous 12 meetings to the Stags dating back to 2004. Fairfield is 35-6 all-time against Manhattan. The two teams have met in the postseason eight times with the Stags holding a 6-2 advantage. The last time Manhattan and Fairfield met in the MAAC Championship was in 2006 when the Stags defeated them to advance to the final.
