Men's Soccer Picks Up 4-1 Win At Manhattan

RIVERDALE, N.Y. -- Affer falling behind by a goal, the Fairfield University men's soccer team tallied four unanswered goals to post a 4-1 win at Manhattan College in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) game.

The Jaspers jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Jake Ostrov scored the game's first goal from just outside the box. Sean Russell set up the goal with a cross from the far corner in the 20th minute. Fairfield tied the game when Nuno Rodrigues controlled a ball which was deflected by a Manhattan defender. He one-timed a shot past a diving goalkeeper to make the score 1-1.

The Stags took control of the game when they scored three goals in just over three minutes. Fairfield grabbed the lead for good when Jonny Raj headed the ball into the goal in the 55th minute, finishing a cross from Matthew Uy

Rodrigues recorded his second goal of the game in the 56th minute, while Erik Ilisije returned to the lineup with a goal in the 58th minute.

Goalkeeper Michael O'Keeffe made four saves to pick up the win for the Stags, as Fairfield held a 19-11 advantage in shots.

The Stags return to action on Sunday when they travel to Saint Peter's for another MAAC game.
