Box Score KINGSTON, R.I. -- The Fairfield University men's soccer team battled the University of Rhode Island to a 1-1 draw on the road, as the Rams scored the tying goal with 36 seconds remaining in regulation.
The Stags jumped out to a 1-0 lead when
Jon Clements beat the Rhode Island goalkeeper at the 15:03 mark.
Matthew Uy sent a long ball to the box, which Clements controlled and sent the ball past the charging goalkeeper to give the Stags a 1-0 lead.
The Rams tied the game late in the game after they were awarded a corner kick with just seconds left in regulations. The ball was sent into the box where it was batted about until Peyton Warwick was able to take possession and push a shot past the goalkeeper with 36 seconds on the clock.
Fairfield dominated the first half by outshooting its hosts by a 10-3 count in the first 45 minutes of the game. From that point, Rhode Island enjoyed a 9-3 advantage through the second half and the two overtime periods.
The Stags posted their fifth tie of the sesaon, returning home with a 1-3-5 overall record.
