Kelly Boudreau (Farmington, Conn.) was named Defensive Player of the Week by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and ECAC on Tuesday afternoon. It marks the third weekly award of the season from the MAAC and the second from the ECAC for the Stags keeper.
A Farmington High School graduate, Boudreau totaled seven saves in back-to-back shutouts over Manhattan and Saint Peter's. She made five stops in the Stags Friday night victory over the Lady Jaspers and stopped a pair of shots from the Peahens on Sunday.
Boudreau enters the week with an impressive .886 save percentage, which is good for 10th in the nation and is tops in the MAAC. Her .746 GAA is 46th in the country and is also best among MAAC keepers. Boudreau made 78 save on the year, 6.0 per game, and now has eight shutouts – all of which rank tops in the MAAC.
Boudreau has yet to allow a goal to a MAAC opponent, 290 minutes, and has three consecutive clean sheets. The eight shutouts this year brings her career total to 23, which is 1.5 shy of the school career mark, currently held by Anne Lyons (1997-2000). She is on pace to become the eight Stag keeper to eclipse 100 saves in a year and surpass her career-best 104 saves from a season ago.
Fairfield, 6-5-2 overall and 2-0-1 in MAAC play, takes to the road for a pair of key conference matchups this weekend. The Stags will play at defending MAAC champion Loyola on Friday night, before taking on Rider on Sunday.
