Conry Promoted To Associate Head Coach

Fairfield University fourth-year head men's lacrosse coach Andy Copelan announced today that Kevin Conry has been promoted to Associate Head Coach.  Conry, in his fourth season with the Stags, is the program's defensive coordinator.

"Kevin is very deserving of this promotion,” said Copelan. “In addition to being a fantastic coach who is passionate about Fairfield lacrosse, he has also been a trusted assistant and friend."

Conry, a 2004 graduate of Johns Hopkins University, has spearheaded the Stags impressive defensive efforts since his arrival on campus. In 2011 the Stags allowed just 8.06 goals per game, a number that ranked 11th in the country when all was said and done.  In 2010 Conry led the Stags to a national ranking of eighth in scoring defense, and the team was sixth in the nation in man-down defense.

While at Hopkins, Conry was a four-year member of the Blue Jays lacrosse team, helping the squad to a runner-up finish in the 2003 NCAA Division I Championship.  He earned a bachelor's degree in political science at Hopkins and went on to earn a master's of Science in Education from the University of Albany in 2006.

Prior to his stint at Fairfield, Conry coached the 2006-07 season at Penn State University, where he was part of recruiting the fifth-best class in the nation in 2008, according to InsideLacrosse. Under his tutelage the Nittany Lions finished the 2007 season ranked 13th in the nation in goals-against.  Conry began his coaching career at Siena College, where he served as an assistant coach from 2004-06.
