Carlton Best was named the Assistant Athletic Director for Broadcast Operations at Fairfield University in February of 2025.
In his role, oversees all Fairfield University athletic productions including the direction of Stags Sports Network broadcasts in addition to working with the ESPN family of networks and Lacrosse TV. In addition, Best will manage on-air talent and a production crew that includes both Fairfield students as well as broadcast professionals.
Over the last eight years at Fairfield, Best worked with on-air talent, assisted with pregame content including game rundowns and graphic elements for in-game presentations. He also directed broadcasts for basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, field hockey, baseball, and softball.
At Sacred Heart University, he produced football, basketball, and hockey games for linear television and streaming in the SNY and ESPN+ networks. He supervised freelance and student broadcast positions and helped create video packages and graphics for pre-game and in-game features.
Best served as an adjunct professor at Sacred Heart University, teaching a live event production class for undergraduate students that focused on pregame preparation, in-game execution, and postgame strike of equipment. He also instructed students on camera operation, cable management, replay, and audio aspects of broadcasts.
