Brendan McGourn joined the Fairfield University Volleyball staff as an Assistant Coach in April of 2023, helping lead the Stags to the MAAC Championship is his first season on the sidelines. McGourn is Fairfield's recruiting coordinator and, on the court, he directs the Fairfield setters and manage the Stags’ blocking scheme.

McGourn was previously on the staff for eight seasons at Yale, where he was a part of four Ivy League Championship teams. The Bulldogs were 102-43 overall and 66-17 in the Ancient Eight with McGourn on the sidelines. In addition to on-court instruction, he was also responsible for team travel, individual and team practice planning, and worked directly with athletics marketing, promotions and alumni relations.

As a coach and recruiting coordinator at Northeast VBC, McGourn has secured a bid to the Junior National Championships for his squad in each of the last two seasons. The club has helped to develop numerous student-athletes who have gone on to play at the Division I level, including recent commitments to UConn, Northeastern, Fordham and Army West Point.

McGourn won back-to-back NCAA Division III National Championships as a student-athlete at Springfield College in 2011 and 2012. After graduating from Springfield in May of 2013, he joined the coaching staff and helped lead the Pride to a third consecutive national title that fall.
