Biography
2014-15: MAAC All-Academic Team… Nelson mostly competed at the No. 5 singles spot in her sophomore season. She compiled an overall season record of 7-8 that included a 5-2 mark in the MAAC. She began conference play with three straight wins against Saint Peter’s, Rider, and Marist. In doubles play, she partnered with Erika Nannery at the No. 3 spot where the two were a perfect 3-0.
2013-14: All-MAAC Second Team No. 5 Singles… All-MAAC Second Team No. 3 Doubles... Nelson earned All-MAAC Second Team honors after an impressive rookie campaign where she finished with an overall 13-11 singles record and a 12-13 doubles record. She went a remarkable 6-2 in conference singles, picking up wins over Rider, Marist, Niagara, Monmouth, Manhattan, and Siena. Nelson competed primarily at No. 5 singles, owning a 5-2 record in the spot. She also competed primarily at No. 3 doubles with partner Radde. The duo had a 5-1 record, a 4-1 mark in MAAC play, and went 6-3 in their last 10 matches. In the fall, she competed in the Sacred Heart Doubles Festival, the Saint Joseph’s Invitational, and the NJIT Invitational.
Before Fairfield: Nelson comes to Fairfield after lettering four years for the Warriors. She went undefeated her senior season. Nelson competed in singles except for freshman year when she played doubles. She was a four-time Dual County League All-Star selection as well as a three-time earner of Boston Globe All-Scholastic honors. She served as a team captain her senior year.
Personal: Daughter of Debra and Mark Nelson... Has one sibling (Amanda)... Sister played tennis at Villanova for three years... Major is Business.
