Savanna Best

Savanna Best joined the Fairfield University swimming and diving program as an assistant prior to the 2023-24 season. Her international as well as her success at the collegiate level offers the swimming and diving program offer the program a great deal of experience.

As a member of the Indian River State College team, Best helped the program capture the NJCAA national championship by setting the women’s record for the 50 breaststroke (28.45). At the 2020 NJCAA championships, Indian River repeated as the national champion while Best earned four national title by taking gold in the 50 breaststroke, the 100 breaststroke, the 200 breaststroke and the 400 IM. She was named the swimmer of the meet both in 2019 and 2020.

After graduating with an associate’s degree from Indian River, Best stayed in the Sunshine State and enrolled at Nova Southeastern University for the 2020-21 academic year. Best won three gold (100, 200 breaststroke and 400 IM), three silver, and one bronze at the 2023 Sunshine State Conference Championship.

She went on to the 2023 NCAA Championships and came home with two individual national titles in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 breaststroke and another two relay titles in the 200 and 400 medley relays. Best also garnered third-place finishes in the 200 and 400 IM at the event. Behind her effort, Nova Southeastern captured the 2023 NCAA Team Championship.

Best also competed internationally for the South African National Team as well as for the German National Team.
