Biography
2014: All-MAAC Second Team…MAAC All-Academic Team…College Sports Madness MAAC Defensive Player of the Year…CSM All-MAAC First Team…Team Co-Captain…Appeared in and started all 21 games during her senior season and finished second on the team with 1,812 minutes played…On the offensive side, she finished with two goals and two assists…On the defensive side of the ball, she helped a Stags unit to a 0.86 goals against average and nine shutouts during her time on the field, the fourth-straight season the Stags have had a GAA under 1.00…Showed her presence on the offensive side as well, heading in two corner kicks for her two goals…She had single tallies against Stony Brook (9/14) and at Marist (10/4)…Dished out her second career assist on Senior Day against Canisius (10/18)…Also had an assist at Iona (10/29)
2013: MAAC Championship All-Tournament Team … MAAC All-Academic Team … MAAC Academic Honor Roll ... Appeared in 15 games, starting 13 contests as a junior. Finished the season with three points. Recorded a goal in the victory over Hartford. Picked up an assist in win over St. Peter’s.
2012: All-MAAC Second Team ... MAAC All-Academic Team ... O'Brien started on the back line in 18 of the 19 games the Stags played. She was a key cog in the Stags 10 clean sheets and holding opponents to just 16 goals for the season.
2011: O'Brien saw action in 17 games for the Stags during her rookie campaign. She started nine times in the back line, including eight of the first nine games of her career. O'Brien helped the Stags post 10 clean sheets and the nation's 15th best goals-against average, at 0.63.
High School: O'Brien earned four varsity letters at Hall High School, where she helped the Warriors to a 40-10-19 record. She was the squad's captain in 2010, tallying six of her 31 career goals, as well as handing out 12 assists. As a sophomore, O'Brien, who earned All-Conference and All-Academic accolades during her scholastic career, led the Warriors to a CCC West Title. She also lettered in indoor and outdoor track and graduated as the school record holder in the 400m and the 4x200m relay. O'Brien was inducted into the National Honor Society, as well as the French and Latin Honor Societies, at Hall.
Personal: Megan Katherine O'Brien is the daughter of Andrea and Dan O'Brien and has two younger sisters; Claire and Erin. A recipient of Dean's List honors. A double major in psychology and nursing.
