Biography
2015-16: MAAC All-Academic Team…Started two of her 27 appearances…Led the charge in the fourth quarter at Saint Peter’s, tallying seven points in seven minutes as the Stags scored 20 points in the final quarter (1/10)…Finished fifth on the team with 22 offensive rebounds despite being eighth in minutes (7.9 per game)…Was one of the best free throw shooters on the team, connecting on 14 of her 17 attempts (.824)…Converted six-straight free throws to end the season and did not miss a foul shot since December 28 against Harvard…Averaged 2.0 points and 1.5 rebounds while shooting .400 from the floor.
2014-15: Started the first 12 games during her rookie season and averaged 6.5 points during that opening stretch…Grabbed 38 rebounds during her first six games, the most by a Fairfield rookie since Stephanie Geehan and Tara Flaherty in 2007…Became the first Stag to record double digits rebound in a game during the year, tallying 11 against Butler (11/22)…Played in 267 minutes during the first 12 games in which she started (182 in final 19)…Shot .515 (17-for-33) in final 13 games of the season…Tied a career-high with 12 points twice, against Quinnipiac (12/7) and at Iowa State (12/21)…Scored five of the first eight points for the Stags in her first career start against East Carolina (11/14)…Dished out a career-high four assists against Quinnipiac (12/7) and at Niagara (2/7)…Did not record an assist in final eight games of the year, the longest streak of the season.
BEFORE FAIRFIELD: Orts comes to Fairfield after an extenvise successful background in her native country of Spain. Orts led her team to postseason success, claiming the Spainish Junior Championship, as well as the Catalan Junior and Senior Championship. Orts and her squad also won the European Championship in 2012 and 2013. In addition, Orts helped the squad to a second place finish in the Junior Championship twice (2012 and 2013). For her efforts, Orts was named a two-time MVP (2012 and 2014). In her career, Orts led her team to several top-four finishes, including a second place finish in the Spanish Championship in 2012. Over the summer before her freshman year at Fairfield, Orts competed in th 3x3 basketball tournament for her native Spain in the Youth Olympic Games in China where her team finished third. Orts scored a team-high seven points in the bronze medal game against Hungary.
