2016: Valente was an offensive force for the Stags in 2016, placing third among his teammates for scoring with seven points. He gained that point total with two goals and three assists, picking up at least one point in five different games. He started the season with an assist in the Stags 1-1 tie with Houston Baptist, and added his first goal of the year one game later in a win over Lafayette. Valente also garnered an assist against Hartwick and Marist at home. His final goal represented the team’s lone score in a 2-1 setback against Niagara. Valente secured time in 16 of the team’s 17 games with 15 of those appearances coming as a starter.

2015: Valente was an important part of the Stags’ offense in 2015, ranking among the team leaders with five points. The sophomore posted one goal and three assists in his 18 appearances. His first point of 2015 came against Delaware, picking up an assist on the tying goal of a 2-2 decision. He set up the game-winning goal of a 1-0 decision against Canisius before earning an assist in a 2-1 overtime loss against Marist. He ended his scoring run of 2015 with the second goal of a 2-0 victory against Siena. Valente owned a 42 percent accuracy rating by placing five of his 12 shots on goal.

2014: Steven Valente was often placed into the lineup when the Stags needed an offensive boost. His high-energy attack helped him post two goals and an assist in his 17 appearances. The rookie started seven games including his final five appearances, which included the MAAC tournament championship game against Monmouth. His first collegiate goal was the deciding score in a win over Manhattan. He scored in back-to-back games with a game-winning goal in a 2-0 decision over Niagara and an assist in a 1-1 draw with Iona. Valente took 11 shots during the season and put four on goal (.364).

Before Fairfield: Steven Valente came to Fairfield University after a successful carer at New Canaan High School and South Kent School. He was a member of the soccer teams at both schools.
