Biography

2025: Morgan Sylvestre has started all 99 games that the team has played since the start of the 2024 season including 49 nods this year. The senior found her stroke in the second half of the season, picking up 22 hits (69 at-bats) in the last 29 regular-season games which translates into a .319 batting average. She collected two four-game hit streaks over this second-half stretch, going 4 for 5 from March 26-29 against Central Connecticut and Manhattan (3 games) as well as 7 for 11 against UConn, Siena (2), and Saint Peter’s. Sylvestre has scored at least one run in eight of the final 13 games including two in the second game against Siena and against Iona in the MAAC tournament. She has at least one hit in 25 of her 49 appearances which includes seven two-hit performances. She has one extra base hit this season, a double in the second Siena game. Defensively, Sylvestre tallied 114 putouts and 71 assists which placed third and second on the team respectively in those categories.

2024: Sylvestre captured All-MAAC second team honors as well as NFCA All-Region third team accolades following her 2024 season. Academically, she earned a berth to the CSC Academic All-District team as well. The infielder led the team in hitting with her .375 batting average, a number which was strong enough to place eighth among all MAAC hitters. She paced the offense with a .441 on-base percentage after collecting at least one hit in 29 of her 47 starts in 2024. She ended the campaign by stroking a base hit in 29 of her final 38 games. Sylvestre placed second on the team with 11 stolen bases (12 attempts). She was a two-time MAAC player of the week.

2023: Sylvestre worked her way into the everyday second baseman during the campaign, starting 37 of her 41 appearances on the right side of the infield. She started the season with four hits in nine plate appearances (.444 batting average) and added a triple and two RBI. She had at least one hit in 17 games during the season, recording multi-hit games against Monmouth and Saint Peter’s with two singles in each game. She added three extra base hits to her season totals with a double against Manhattan, a triple against Monmouth, and a home run at Canisius. She was the team’s co-leader in sacrifice bunts with nine, joining graduate student Madison Robicheau for that honor. Defensively, she accumulated 69 assists which placed second among  her teammates. She registered a hit in her first MAAC Tournament game, a single against Siena, and started all three postseason games at second base.

2022: Sylvestre became a regular during the season, spending time both as a second baseman and as a third baseman. She picked up six hits during her time on the diamond, with half of those hits going for extra bases. All three of her doubles came against non-conference foes, namely St. John’s, Hartford, and Sacred Heart. She picked up her first collegiate hit against Mount St. Mary’s, going 1 for 1 with two runs scored and two RBI with a walk. Sylvestre scored a run in 10 games with seven coming against non-conference opponents.

Before Fairfield: Sylvestre joined the Fairfield softball program after graduating from Foxboro High School where she was a member of the school’s softball team. In 2019, Sylvestre batted .400 off 26 hits in addition to four home runs and 26 RBI. As a senior, the student-athlete earned the Davenport Division MVP award in addition to securing a spot on the Davenport Division All-Star team. She also played for Foxboro basketball team which won the 2019-20 Division II State Co-Champion with a 24-2 overall record.
