Biography

2023: Kaitlin Hoffman showed she is one of the best hitters in Fairfield softball history, placing tied 10th in career doubles (35), fifth in career triples (11), and seventh in career RBI (102). In 2023, she leads the team with 26 RBI, driving home a run in 17 games. She picked three or more RBI twice during the year, driving home four runs against Hartford and three against Manhattan. Her lone home run of the season came against Quinnipiac, collecting four hits in six at-bats during the doubleheader. She opened the season with a six-game hitting streak (8 for 21) which gave her .380 batting average. She surpassed with a seven-game streak from April 7-14, garnering 12 hits in 29 (.414 batting average) before seeing it end in the second game of the Canisius twin bill. She finished the regular-season with a six-game hitting streak, earning eight hits in 19 at-bats for a .421 batting average. Hoffman batted .294 and led the team with 12 RBI against non-conference opponents. She earned All-MAAC Tournament honors after registering four hits in nine at-bats (.444 batting average) with one RBI.

2022:  Hoffman ended the season as the team leader in RBI with 29, picking up at least one RBI in 20 games this year. She posted two or more RBI in seven games, including a season-best three RBI against both Canisius and Quinnipiac. The outfielder tallied three home runs, all coming against MAAC opponents (Saint Peter’s, Canisius, Quinnipiac). Her 15 extra base tied the team pace set by Haley Updegraff (15) with Hoffman registering 11 doubles, a triple, and three homers. She saw her seven-game hitting streak end in the second game of the Manhattan doubleheader on the last day of the regular season, registering 11 hits in 25 at-bats during those seven contests (.440). Hoffman collected a hit in 27 of her 47 appearances.

2021: Hoffman ended the regular-season with a .337 batting average which is third among regulars. The outfielder has been one of the top run producers on the team, scoring 17 runs and driving in 19 runs. Hoffman put together a seven-game hitting streak midway through the season, stroking nine hits in 20 at-bats (.450) with eight RBI from April 8-22. Four of those RBI came on a grand slam against Siena College, a home run that was the difference in a 5-1 win against the Saints. She closed the year with a six-game hitting streak, posting seven hits in 19 at-bats with seven RBI and three runs scored. She posted at least one hit in 24 of her 36 appearances including 23 of the last 28 contests. Hoffman was also one of two Stags in double digits for stolen bases, picking up 10 steals in 13 attempts. Hoffman has been flawless in the field, recording 57 putouts with five assists in 62 chances.

2020: Hoffman started all 15 games as one of the team’s outfielders, placing third on the team with her .333 batting average. Her six extra base hits paced among all Stags which were comprised by three doubles, two triples, and one home run. She was the lone Stag with double-digit RBI, registering 13 in 15 games. Hoffman was also the team leader with her .556 slugging percentage (25 total bases) and posted a .412 on-base percentage after working out four walks and getting hit by a pitch.  Hoffman earned one hit in 11 of her 15 games, including three-hit, three-RBI performances against North Carolina in the season opener and also versus Sacred Heart on March 7. She went hitless in back-to-back games just once, putting together two three-game hit streaks and a season-long streak of four games against Penn, Northern Kentucky, Sacred Heart, and Stetson.

2019: Hoffman played in 44 games during the season, tied with Madison Robicheau for most among Fairfield freshmen. She made the most of her time in the lineup, posting a .240 batting average with six doubles, two home runs, and 15 RBI. She began her career by getting a hit in each of her first two games with the program, collecting a single against Oakland and two more base hits against La Salle. The two-hit game was the first of four multi-hit games, highlighted by her 3 for 4 effort at Villanova which included two doubles, a home run and three RBI. Hoffman’s two homers came in back-to-back games, hitting one over the fence at Hartford before moving on to Villanova. She ended the regular season with more walks (15) than strikeouts (12) over her 96 plate appearances. Hoffman batted .161 against the MAAC schools in 2019. 

Before Fairfield: Kaitlin Hoffman excelled both as a pitcher and as a hitter in her senior season at Northern Lehigh High School. The  right hander earned 12 wins in the pitching circle and added eight home runs and 24 RBI from the batter's box. She finished her carreer wtih 20 home runs and 67 RBI in addition to posting 27 wins as a pitcher. She was named The Times News Softball Player of the Year twice.
