Former Fairfield University Women’s Basketball standout Macey Hollenshead ’18 enters her first season as a Stags' assistant coach in her return to the program. Hollenshead, a former team captain for the Stags, has had experience in a pair of assistant coaching spots including Seton Hill University and most recently at Shepherd University.
Hollenshead’s most recent coaching position came as an assistant at Shepherd University during the last season. Hollenshead played a vital role on and off the floor by aiding player development through video reviews of practice and games as well as through individual and small group skill development. She was also in charge of all scouting reports with an extra emphasis on analytical reports.
Before her arrival at Shepherd, Hollenshead spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Seton Hill University. Hollenshead provided instruction throughout practice as well as developed in-season scouting reports and game analysis. At Seton Hill, she mentored two All-Conference selections including one All-American. She also helped Seton Hill to the best GPA in WBCA Division II with a 3.83 mark.
Hollenshead was a starting point guard for the Stags, appearing in 82 contests with 37 starts. She would tally 120 assists in her career. Her best season came during her senior season when she was elected a team captain and would set career-highs in almost every offensive category, including leading the team with a .379 3-point shooting percentage.
