2014: Ruffolo anchored of the Stags outfield, playing 42 games as the team’s primary centerfielder. She batted .307 during the season with 38 hits in 41 starts, one of five regulars with a .300-plus batting average. She ended the regular season with a seven-game hitting streak, posting nine hits in 23 at-bats (.391 batting average). The run surpasses her earlier streak of six games set from February 21-March 2 (12 of 20 for .600 average). Ruffolo was by far the team leader with 11 sacrifice bunts, more than double the next leading teammate (5 by Tori Reed). She registered two extra base hits with a triple against Dartmouth and a double versus Monmouth. Ruffolo was nearly flawless in the outfield with 42 putouts and two assists against one error.
2013: Sammy Ruffolo was one of three Fairfield student-athletes to start all 50 games in 2013, spending most of her time as the left fielder. She finished a .314 batting average, ending the year with an eight-game hitting streak, and was the team’s co-leader with 54 hits. She posted a .416 batting average over the final 14 games of the season, stroking at least one hit in 13 of those contests and posting 20 hits in 48 at-bats during that run. She tallied a season-high four hits with three RBI in the first game of a doubleheader against Rider on May 4. She enjoyed a seven-game hitting streak early in the year, starting with a single against Georgetown on March 2 and ending with a base hit against Texas Tech on March 15 (9 for 27). She played flawless defense during the regular season with no errors in 72 chances, including three assists.
2012: Ruffolo became the Stags’ starting centerfielder early in the season, finishing the season as the only freshman to play 50 games this season. She ended the regular season with a seven-game hitting streak, 11 for 21 over the stretch, and had a hit in nine of her final 10 games. Her previous high was a four-game streak during which she batted .545 (6 for 11) from April 7-10. She performed well in MAAC play as well, batting .347 against the conference. She started all 16 MAAC games and had a team-high 17 hits over those contests. She was nearly perfect on the base paths with 16 stolen bases in 18 attempts. She earned the MAAC Rookie of the Week on May 7 after batting .545 over the final four conference games.
