2014:: Sam Frungillo started 36 of her 37 of her appearances in 2014, finishing the season with a .216 batting average. She played primarily as a first baseman but also spent time as a designated player. She had a hit in 16 games this year including two-hit games against Northern Illinois, Sacred Heart, and Rider. She opened the season with two hits in as many at-bats and added a double with three RBI against Northern Illinois. All six of her extra base hits were doubles, the last of which came against Iona in the MAAC tournament. In the field, Frungillo owned a .983 fielding percentage with 115 putouts and two assists against just two errors.
2013: Frungillo collected a .268 batting average, stroking 19 hits with six extra-base hits. She was one of the team’s top hitters against MAAC foes with a .367 batting average She finished the regular season by hitting .500 over the final five games, registering seven hits in 14 at-bats with two doubles. Frungillo had a five-game RBI streak during which she posted six RBI from April 7-13, starting with both Marist games and ending with the first meeting with Saint Peter’s. She hit a pair of home runs this season, launching a solo shot against San Jose State and Saint Peter’s. She reached base at least once in 15 of her 22 starts this year.
2012: Frungillo received 11 starts at first base and played in 33 games overall. Her .213 batting average was second among Fairfield newcomers, picking up 10 hits in 47 at-bats with one double. Her extra base hit came against Bryant during the team’s Florida trip. Her best month of the season came in March when she batted. 240 with six hits in 25 at-bats. She possesses a good eye at the plate, picking up six walks which elevated her on-base percentage to .302. She finished the season with four RBI, sending home a run against UNC-Wilmington and Hartford as well as two runs in the Bryant match up.
Before Fairfield: Frungillo was a major role player at Governor Livingston High School. As a junior and as a senior, Frungillo batted .494 as a first baseman for her high school team. She also showed her ability to hit the long ball with four career home runs. In those two seasons, the infielder stroked 56 base hits and drove home 50 base runners to pace the offense. She enjoyed a solid senior campaign with a .452 batting average, registering one home run and 22 RBI. She also showed her prowess for the extra base hit, registering a .758 slugging percentage. With her assistance, Governor Livingston captured the New Jersey Section 2 championship in 2010 and followed up with the Union County championship in 2011. She was a first -team All-Conference and an All-County player in 2011 and made the All-State Group 2 second team. She was part of an infield that was named the best infield in New Jersey by the Courier News. Off the field, she was part of the World Language Honor Society and the National Honor Society.
