2018: Sieber enjoyed her best offensive season as a Stag, posting a .260 batting average with personal-bests for runs (17), hits (32), doubles (5), triples (1), and RBI (15). She earned a spot on the MAAC All-Tournament Team after hitting .455 with five hits in 11 at-bats. Over the final 11 regular season games, Sieber batted .333 (11 for 33) with five RBI. Her best game during that run was a two-hit, three-RBI effort against Central Connecticut, her only multiple RBI game of the season. She picked up her first career triple in the Loyola-Marymount game (March 17), a game in which she had two hits and an RBI. Sieber started all 20 MAAC games and recorded a .220 batting average. She started 48 games at shortstop and finished with a team-best 85 assists in conference play.
2017: Rachel Sieber ranks as one of the team’s top defensive players, turning apparent hits into outs from the shortstop position. She eclipsed the 100 assist mark on the final day of the regular season, collecting three assists in the second game against Quinnipiac to give her 101 assist, a number which would reach 111 by season’s end. She has gone without an assist in just 10 of her 52 games. At the plate, Sieber has put together her best offensive season as a Stag, driving in 13 runners. Her best game in 2017 came in the opener against Rider when she picked up a hit in all three at-bats, and scored one of the team’s runs. Sieber collected a pair of doubles this year, stroking one against La Salle and Colgate.
2016: Sieber made the transition from a spot starter at second base to the starting shortstop on April 10 during the Monmouth series. Her first start on the left side came in the second game versus Monmouth where she completed three putouts and an assist. She went on to start 21 straight games at that position and has handled the move well with 28 putouts and 29 assists against only three errors at shortstop (.950 field percentage). At the plate, Sieber owned a .194 batting average but hit .500 over the last four games of the regular season. All four hits came against Marist College including two singles and a double in the nightcap versus the Red Foxes. She her hit only home run of the season in her second game, a solo shot against Georgetown.
2015: Sieber started three games this season, all coming against non-conference foes (Hampton, Central Connecticut, Stony Brook). The infielder earned four of her eight at-bats in those starts, including a season-high two at-bats against Stony Brook. Her first game as a Stag came against Monmouth on March 7 when she went to the batter’s box twice. She was hit by a pitch in that game which led to her only run scored of the season. She picked up a base hit when she came off the bench to single in her one at-bat that game. She struck out only one time in her 10 plate appearances
Before Fairfield: Sieber joined the Fairfield softball team as an infielder after graduating from Massapequa High School. She was a member of the school’s softball team where she was a three-sport athlete. Sieber served as team captain for the field hockey, basketball, and softball teams. She was quite successful at all three sports, earning All-County honors for each program. In addition, Sieber collected All-Long Island second team honors and received All-State third team accolades. Sieber was also successful in the classroom as illustrated by her receiving the Female Scholar Athlete of the Year at Massapequa High School. In addition, Sieber played club softball, spending 10 seasons as a member of the Team Long Island Gold program. Sieber will study biochemistry at Fairfield University.
