Biography

2022: Mikayla Rubin ended the regular-season with an eight-game hitting streak during which she batted .520 (13 of 25) with 10 RBI including a 3 for 3 effort with 5 RBI in a win over Army West Point. She finished the campaign with 26 RBI, just three off team leader Kaitlin Hoffman’s total. She opened the year with a hit in each of her first three games, starting off a run of at least one hit in 27 of her 45 appearances during the year. The infielder batted.298 hitting percentage against teams in the MAAC during the regular season (17 of 57) with five doubles and 11 RBI. Rubin was also effective with the bunt, tying with Charli Warren for the team lead with 11 sacrifices and also was a co-leader with two sacrifice flies.

2021: Rubin picked up 26 hits in 36 starts this season with four doubles and a team-high four home runs. She posted one double through her first 31 starts but had a two-base hit in three straight contests against Quinnipiac and both ends of the Siena doubleheader (MAAC quarterfinals). Rubin is one of two Stags with seven sacrifice bunts and has one sacrifice fly for a team-best eight combined sacrifices. She started the season with 10 RBI through the first seven games highlighted by a four-RBI game against Iona. She hit a homer in that game, one game after clearing the fence against Canisius on March 27. Rubin opened the year with a 10-game hitting streak that lasted from March 20 to April 3 (12 for 34 – .353 batting average with 11 RBI). 67 infield assists are second on the team behind Madison Robicheau’s 73 assists.

2020: Rubin completed her season with a .282 batting average, stroking 11 hits in 39 at-bats throughout her 15 starts at third base. She began the season with a six-game hitting streak that saw the infielder post seven hits in 19 at-bats (.417 batting average). She was second among her teammates with eight RBI, collecting at least one in six games. She secured two RBI in the season opener against North Carolina and equaled that mark against Yale six days later. She was tied for the team lead with four doubles and added a home run in the Yale game to account for her five extra base hits. She also led the team with six sacrifice bunts, comprising one-third of the team’s 18 sacrifices. Rubin also was solid in the field, registering 13 putouts and 23 assists in 38 chances.

2019: Rubin captured All-MAAC second team honors after serving as the team’s top run producer with 30 RBI in her team-best 50 starts this season. She also leads the team with 11 doubles and secured second among her teammates with three home runs. She enjoyed a strong end to the season by hitting .360 (9 for 25) with four multi-hit games during over the final eight games of the regular season. Six of those eight games were against MAAC opponents, stroking six hits in 17 at-bats (.352) in those contests against Iona, Rider, and Monmouth. Rubin started the year with a .333 batting average (5 of 15) over the first four games of the campaign. Her best hitting streak covered six games from March 2-10 during which she 11 for 19 (.579). She has a hit in 32 of her 48 games. She registered a .311 mark in MAAC play this year with 10 RBI.

2018: Rubin capped her freshman season by earning a spot on the All-MAAC second team and on the MAAC All-Rookie team. The infielder led all Fairfield freshmen with 48 starts during the season, mostly coming from the second base slot. She moved over to third base most recently, starting six games from that position and 14 of her last 16 regular-season starts at the hot corner. She was one of two freshmen on the team to own a .300-plus batting average during the regular-season (.302) before settling on a .299 hitting percentage after the MAAC tournament. She posted 13 games with two or more hits, second only to Courtney Hankins’ 15 multiple hit games. Three of the infielder’s first six collegiate hits went for two bases, securing one against Georgia Tech, Mt. St. Mary’s, and Cal-state Fullerton. She put together a personal-best four-game hitting streak March 31 to April 7 which included a three-hit game against Monmouth. Rubin was a .317 hitter against MAAC opponents and batted .278 in the MAAC Tournament (5 of 18).

Before Fairfield:  Rubin made her way to Fairfield University after graduating from Chino Hills High School where she also was an infielder with the school's softball team. Rubin was an All-Inland Valley first team player and earned a Silver Slugger award from the conference for batting over .350 She left Chino Hills High School with a .376 career batting average, stroking 112 hits with 81 RBI and 14 home runs. During her time with the program, Chino HIlls captured the Baseline League Championship in 2015.
