Biography

2024: Megan Forbes completed her career with 142 hits in her 185 appearances which included 26 hits in 46 games during the 2024 campaign. She hit two of her career eight home-runs in 2024, clearing the fence twice in a three-game stretch (Iona and Central Connecticut). She stroked a hit in 21 games highlighted by two-hit efforts against Bucknell, Iona, Saint Peter’s, and Sacred Heart. She finished the season with a .211 batting average along with seven extra base hits (four doubles, one triple, two home runs).

2023:  Forbes ranked third on the team with 11 extra base hits in 2023, stroking nine doubles, a triple, and a home run in her 45 starts. She finished the regular season by hitting .346 over the final eight games (9 for 26) which was highlighted by three multi-hit games (Sacred Heart, Saint Peter’s, and Siena). She opened the campaign with a season-best six-game hitting streak (8 for 21) which translates into a .380 batting average, adding four RBI with two doubles and a triple during the run. Her only home run of the season was an inside-the-park hit that traveled down the right field line which came in the opener against the Siena doubleheader. She recorded one hit in 25 of her 45 appearances and drove home at least one run in 10 games. Forbes placed third on the team with a .327 batting average against non-conference opponents, owning a team-best .491 slugging percentage in those games.

2022: Forbes showed her versatility by successfully playing both first base and catcher during the 2022 season. She spent time at first base in 37 games and behind the plate for nine contests. She also served as a designated player nine times. Forbes ended the season with a .275 batting average, stroking 36 hits in 47 games with seven doubles, a triple, and a home run. She finished out the regular season with a .457 batting average over the final 11 games (16 of 35) with five multiple hit games including three-hit efforts against Sacred Heart and Iona College. She was successful on the base paths with 19 runs scored and eight stolen. She batted .297 against the MAAC (19 of 64) with 12 RBI.

2021: Megan Forbes started all 35 of her appearances in 2021, splitting most of her time between designated player and catcher. She was named to the NFCA All-Region second team following the season. The sophomore captured an All-MAAC second team berth after posting a .360 batting average off a team-best 36 hits during the regular season.  She was also the team leader with 13 extra base hits, collecting 10 doubles, two triples, and one home run, and the co-leader with 24 runs scored (with Sam Merino). Forbes put together two different eight-game hitting streaks, batting .428 (12 of 28) with two RBI from April 3-10 and hitting .440 (11 of 25) with 10 RBI from April 22-28. In her debut as a Stag, Forbes picked up two hits and two RBI and went on to hit in each of her first three games in a Fairfield uniform. She picked up two or more hits in 14 games this season including four straight multi-hit games from May 2 to May 7 (9 for 16 - .562).


2020: Megan Forbes quickly made her way into the lineup as a first-year student-athlete, securing her first career at-bat against UNC-Greensboro. One game later, she went 2 for 3 with an RBI against Purdue University, her first of two multi-hit game. The Purdue game started a five-game hitting streak which include a pinch-hit home run against Yale. During her run, Forbes stroked seven hits in 14 at-bats for a .500 hitting percentage. She posted two hits and a season-best two RBI against East Carolina, a game which also featured her first stolen base. The final game of her hitting streak came against Butler against which she had a hit and a walk that led to two stolen bases and a run scored. She was perfect as a fielder with 39 putouts and four assists without an error. Forbes collected the MAAC Rookie of the Week award on April 3.

Before Fairfield: Forbes came to Fairfield after playing softball at Norco High School where she excelled as a first baseman and a catcher. She helped the program advance to two Division I championship games, as Norco posted back-to-back championships in 2018 and 2019. Forbes scored one of the team's two runs in the 2-0 shutout in the 2019 title game. She was a regular in the lineup as a senior, appearing in nearly every game as Norco posted more than 30 victories in her senior year.
