Biography

2025: Martina Guitierrez spent most of the season as the team’s starting shortstop, getting the nod in 31 of her 37 games played. She started the year by hitting .276 over her first 13 games. She garnered eight hits in 29 at-bats with three RBI and two doubles during the stretch. The infielder started the season by hitting a two-run homer in her first at-bat of the season, helping the Stags upend Bethune-Cookman by a 3-1 score. She finished the regular season with a .191 batting average overall with eight RBI which included driving home a run in the regular-season finale against Quinnipiac. Five of her regular season RBI came against MAAC foes, picking up two RBI against Saint Peter’s and one against Mount St. Mary’s, Siena, and Quinnipiac. At shortstop, Guitierrez placed third among her teammates with 48 assists, highlighted by a season-best five against Siena in the second game of the doubleheader.

2024: Gutierrez emerged as a regular starter in the Stags infield in 2024 after gaining 11 starts as a freshman. This year, the sophomore gained a starting nod in all 46 of her appearances, one of four Stags to earn 45 or more starts in 2024. Nine of her 13 RBI came against MAAC opponents including season-best three RBI at Saint Peter’s. She garnered a team-best nine doubles while her nine extra base hits were also tops on the squad. She also drove home multiple runners twice, posting a pair of RBI against California Baptist and North Dakota. Defensively, she recorded a team-high 83 assists as a middle infielder.

2023: Gutierrez was a regular in the middle infield this season, earning all of her 11 starts from the second base position. She also spent time at shortstop during the campaign. She scored her first collegiate run against Monmouth in her second appearance. Her first collegiate hit was a double against DePaul during the University of Virginia Tournament. The rest of her hits came in non-conference play, stroking a single against Sacred Heart in two of the three meetings between the teams as well as single against Hartford. She was nearly flawless in the infield, having just one miscue in 49 chances (30 putouts, 18 assists).
