2024: Ella Watson served most of the season as a defensive replacement or a pinch runner, coming off the bench for five of her eight appearances. She received a starting nod against Marshall, Toledo, and Yale, but did not receive at-bat in those contests. For the season, Watson scored two runs with one coming in the East Carolina and Lafayette games.

2023:  Watson served primarily as a pinch runner this season, entering that game in that role for 25 of her 28 appearances in 2023. She did play in the outfield against Mercer, Central Connecticut, and Hartford. She scored six runs as a pinch runner during the season, crossing the plate against Rider, Niagara, St. John’s, Sacred Heart, Saint Peter’s, and against Siena during the MAAC Tournament. In the field, Watson cleanly handled all three chances that came her way in the outfield. She has two plate appearances during the campaign, earning a walk at Central Connecticut and being retired on strikes against Hartford.

2022:  Watson appeared in 23 games last season, coming off the bench for each of those outings. She was used primarily as a pinch runner and the rookie made the most of those opportunities.  She scored six runs and stole four bases in as many attempts as a reserve runner including one run against #25 South Florida in February. She also played in three games as an outfielder, getting the call against Stony Brook in the home opener and also versus UConn, Hartford, and Sacred Heart. She garnered time in 10 MAAC games with seven of those appearances coming against teams in the MAAC tournament field.

Before Fairfield: Watson came to Fairfield after performing as a two-sport athlete at Cheshire High School, competing on the diamond as well as the basketball court. As a softball player, Watson helped the Rams capture the 2019 Hammonassett Division championship as well as the Southern Conference title. Watson batted. 275 with a home run and six stolen bases during her senior season. Off that success, Cheshire reached the semifinals of the Class LL semifinals in state tournament play. She also competed with the Cheshire Wildcats.
