2019: Courtney Hankins, who was named the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, spent more than half of the season on the injured list, missing games from March 25 until May 2. She returned to the lineup for the final MAAC weekend  and batted .272 over the four games against Rider and Monmouth (3 for 11). Hankins finished her career with 125 career RBI which set the career standard in the Fairfield softball record book. In her first 10 games of the season, Hankins batted .394 (13 of 33) with 15 RBI including four multi-hit games. She has a hit in 16 of her 24 starts which includes a five-game hitting streak from March 13-20, hitting .500 (8 for 16) with six RBI. Defensively, Hankins made one error in 120 chances which is comprised by 114 putouts and five assists primarily fielded at first base. She batted .273 against MAAC opponents over her four appearances.Â
2018: Courtney Hankins was named the MAAC Player of the Year and earned berths to the All-MAAC First Team as well as the NFCA All-Region team. She finished the regular-season with a .402 batting average before settling for a .383 overall batting average.. Hankins led the MAAC with the best batting average in conference play at  .491 during the year (27 of 55) with five homers and 15 RBI, and owned a .560 average against the five MAAC tournament team participants (14 of 25) with two doubles, three homers, and eight RBI.  The junior earned the MAAC Player of the Week on April 24 after she hit a game-tying home run against Siena in the bottom of the seventh inning, a game which Fairfield won in eight innings, 3-2. She batted .600 for the week (9 of 15) and had a least one RBI in all five games played by the Stags. She leads the team in hitting with her .383 batting average as well as with her 54 hits, eight home runs, and 31 RBI. She has also drawn 33 walks in her 53 starts, an average of 0.63 walks per game. She has reached base more than half of her plate appearances (.505 on-base percentage). She started the year with a five-game hitting streak, stroking five hits in 16 at-bats, a run which she tied with another five-game hitting streak beginning with Monmouth and ending in the second game against Saint Peter’s on April 8. She posted a hit in 33 of her 53 starts in 2018.
2017: Courtney Hankins was well decorated for her play during the 2017 campaign, picking up a spot on the NFCA All-Region second team and a berth to the All-MAAC squad. As a second-teamer on the All-Region team, Hankins was under consideration for All-America honors. For the second straight season, Hankins put together an offensive showcase that had her leading the team in several statistical categories including doubles (11) and RBI (34). Over the final 10 games of the regular-season, Hankins batted .469 (15 for 32) with six doubles and 17 RBI. She registered a hit in 31 of her 51 appearances with nine of those hitless appearances coming in the first 12 games of the season. She ranked fourth among her teammates with a .381 on-base percentage, a number helped by her 13 walks. Hankins led all Stags with 26 RBI against MAAC opponents in 2017, averaging 1.3 RBI per conference game. The infielder ended the season with three hits in four at-bats against McNeese in the Baton Rouge Regional of the NCAA Tournament and scored one of the team’s two runs in that game.
2016: Hankins emerged as one of the team’s top offensive players right from the start and remained the team’s top run producer with a team-best 39 RBI and 22 runs scored. The infielder garnered a MAAC All-Rookie spot for her performance in 2016. She picked up the MAAC Rookie of the Week on March 22 after batting .500 with two home runs and seven RBI in a 2-1 week for the Stags. The infielder recorded a 13-game hitting streak from April 8-21 during which she batted .400 with 16 hits in 40 at-bats, registering four games with two or more hits. She has 15 extra-base hits which ties her for third among her teammates, recording 11 doubles and four home runs. Hankins hit three of those homers in a span of four games, launching the long ball against Stony Brook, Holy Cross, and Army. Hankins has a hit in 34 games this year and an RBI in 23 contests. Her best overall game came against Stony Brook when she went 2 for 5 with five RBI, a double and a home run.Â
Before Fairfield:Â Courtney Hankins has enjoyed success at two different positions during her time at Pennsville High School, spending her sophomore season at third base before moving to catcher as a junior. Regardless of the position, Hankins posted impressive offensive numbers . In 2014, Hankins was named the Salem/Cumberland Country Softball Player of the Year in her first season as a catcher. She finished the year with a .624 batting average with 14 extra-base hits, two homers, and 38 RBI with 40 runs scored. In her sophomore season, Hankins posted a .476 hitting percentage with five home runs, 16 extra base hits (11 doubles, five homers) with 21 RBI. Hankins ended her career with 180 hits, 22 home runs, and a .553 batting average. The catcher set school records for most hits in a season as well as in a career. She also plays for the Newtown (Pa.) Rock Gold travel team.
