FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Lauryn Rhinehart joined the Fairfield University softball coaching staff as pitching coach beginning with the 2023 season.


Rhinehart has been part of the Fairfield University softball program for the last five years as a student-athlete. The Washington state native finished her career as one of the program’s top pitchers, earning All-MAAC and NFCA All-Region as a utility player. Her success in the pitching circle and in the batter’s box made her one of the most versatile players on the roster.

She appeared in 93 games as a pitcher, ranking her 10th all-time in the Fairfield record book. She finished her career with 32 victories, five shutouts, and one save during her 400-plus innings of work between 2018 and 2022. She fanned 254 batters during her career, including a career-best 92 hitters in 2019.

On the diamond, Rhinehart spent time both as a designated player and as an infielder. She owned a .989 fielding percentage by making just four errors in 364 chances. As a hitter, Rhinehart left the program with a career .248 batting average, highlighted by a .309 batting average during the 2019 campaign. During that season, Rhinehart had 10 extra base hits with eight doubles and two home runs which led her to 21 RBI.

Rhinehart was also enjoyed success in the classroom, earning All-MAAC Academic honors each year beginning with her sophomore season.
