2009: Kurtz tallied a career-high five points as a junior, all of which came against MAAC opponents. He came off the bench for all of his appearances, missing only four games. After tallying two points as a sophomore, Kurtz more than doubled that total in 2009 with two goals and an assist. He started with an assist in a 3-0 win against Saint Peter's College. He followed up with a goal in the 5-1 decision over Rider University, and ended the regular-season by scoring against Canisius College. The goal against Rider was the result of a
penalty kick, the only attempt by the Stags in 2009. Kurtz took eight shots during the year with four being on target and two touching the back of the net.
2008 : Kurtz appeared in nine games over the 2008 campaign, coming off the bench for all those outings. He tallied his first career goal in the MAAC Tournament semifinal, a 4-0 victory over Siena. He made his season debut in the season opener against Towson. Most of his outings came over the final four games. Kurtz played at Niagara and at Canisius as well as Marist and Siena. Kurtz contributed as a midfielder when he was inserted into the lineup.
2007: Kurtz patrolled the midfield for seven games as a freshman, seeing time against four conference opponents and in two MAAC tournament games. His only non-conference appearance also represented his Stag debut, gaining minutes against nationally-ranked Harvard. He played in the last two regular-season games - at Marist and vs. Iona. He helped the Stags post a shutout in three of his seven appearances.
Before Fairfield: Kurtz performed well both on and off the field during\ his four years at Oliver Ames High School. He secured a spot on the Hockomock League All- Star team. In the classroom, Kurtz picked up Enterprise All-Scholastic honors. He performed well at the club level as well, helping his team capture the 2006 club national championship.
