Biography

2024 Season: Joseph Stocchetti finished up his career at Fairfield by playing in all 17 matches. He served his teammates as a reserve in three of the first five matches before running the table with the starting 11 over the remaining 12 dates. He played all 90 minutes in a pair of games, setting the mark against Merrimack as well as at Quinnipiac in the regular-season finale. His ability to contribute both offensive and defensively made him a valuable contributor all season long. He managed to take one shot during the campaign, sending the ball toward goal in the Stonehill match.

2023 Season:  Stocchetti made his way into the lineup for 15 of the team’s 16 dates, missing only the Canisius game on October 7. His two starts were against MAAC opponents, namely at Rider and at Saint Peter’s. He bolstered Fairfield in the midfield position, contributing on both sides of the pitch. He posted three points during the campaign, scoring the team’s lone goal in the season opener against FDU before picking up an assist in the 3-1 victory against LIU.

2021 Season: Stocchetti started all 18 games for the Stags in 2021, contributing on both sides of the pitch from midfield positions. His ability to bolster the back line and help establish offensive sets provided his teammates with many options when he was on the pitch. Stocchetti was responsible for five shots during the season, registering one against Army, Niagara, and Rider in addition to two attempts in the Stony Brook match. He was one of six Fairfield student-athletes to play in all 18 matches in 2021.

2020-21 Season: Stocchetti secured time in seven of the team’s eight games, missing only the season opener against Canisius. He started the next three games, all road contests against Saint Peter’s, Monmouth, and Rider. After another reserve role versus Manhattan, Stocchetti  returned to the starting 11 in both MAAC Championship games against Saint Peter’s and Quinnipiac. He earned one assist during the season, setting up the team’s lone goal against the Bobcats in the MAAC semifinals.
