Fairfield University Athletics

2018: Jonathan Gomes was a regular in the lineup as a freshman with 16 appearances and six starts. His first two starts came as part of the UNCW tournament which yielded a win over the host school. He also collected a starting nod in conference games against Canisius, Iona, Rider, and Quinnipiac. The midfielder was a part of a strong defensive effort but also played a role up front throughout all of his appearances.

Before Fairfield: Gomes played his first season as a member of the Fairfield University soccer program in 2018. He was a decorated midfielder at Central High School in Bridgeport where he captured attention both locally and regionally. Gomes garnered All-FCIAC first team honors on the pitch and gathered the most valuable player award at the 2017 Senior Bowl. In the classroom, Gomes received the Scholar FCIAC Athlete of the Month in October 2017. He was the recipient of the Mayor's Award for Academic and Athletic Excellence as well as the Connecticut Certificate of Special Recognition for Academic and Athletic Accomplishment. He also played for Beachside Soccer Club.
