2016: Contino was a regular reserve for the Stags, playing in 14 of the team’s 17 games. He came off the bench for all but one of those contests, getting a start at Saint Peter’s in early October. The defender was part of a Stags’ defense that allowed just over one goal per game and posted three shutouts during 2016. He picked up one point during the campaign, adding an assist in the team’s first win of the 2016 season, a 2-0 road decision over Lafayette.

Before Fairfield: James Contino becomes part of the Fairfield University men's soccer program after attending Comsewogue High School, where he played four seasons on the soccer team. He served as a team captain for his high school team as well as for his club team Dix Hills Elite. As a member of Dix Hills Elite, he played in three national championship tournaments, earning a spot in the tournament final in 2013 and in the tournament semifinals in 2014. He was part of three State Cup championship squads. He was a Region 1 ODP player before coming to Fairfield.
