2014: Kimi Kurata missed most of the 2014 season, starting the first seveng games before becoming injured. She posted one RBI in seven at-bats. She drove home a base runner in the team’s 9-1 loss to James Madison. Kurata started all four of her appearances.
2013: Kimi Kurata started 25 games in 2013 and played in 45 games overall, mostly in right field. She posted 13 hits with five of those going for extra bases. The junior has two doubles, two triples, and a home run to her credit. Four of her five extra-base hits came against MAAC opponents, including her solo home run at Iona. Her only non-conference extra-base hit was an RBI triple at Quinnipiac. She hit in 13 games overall and in seven of the team’s 16 MAAC games this season. In last season’s MAAC tournament,
2012: Kurata was a solid hitter in the lineup, registering a .246 batting average in 2012. She had five multiple hit games over the final 18 regular-season contests, and batted .350 over the stretch (19 of 54) with two home runs. The second of those home runs started Fairfield’s late-inning rally against Siena, hitting a lead-off homer in the sixth inning to cut the lead to 3-2 which would eventually lead to a 4-3 win in nine innings. Kurata placed third among her teammates with a .319 batting average against MAAC opponents, picking up a hit in 10 of the 16 games. She was very successful on the road, hitting .302 in away games and .255 in away and neutral site games combined.
2011: Kurata was productive as the team’s number nine hitter, scoring 15 runs and driving home 13 more base runners. She had nine extra base hits – five doubles and four home runs – with her home run total placing her second on the team. The outfielder had a two-home run game against Stony Brook on March 11 and followed up with another homer two games later against George Mason. She posted two hits in three straight games and ended the season with nine multiple hit games. The last of her multiple-hit games came in the MAAC tournament, stroking two singles in three at-bats against Marist. Kurata’s best doubleheader performance came against Yale when she went four for six with four RBI, and three runs scored. She also posted a personal best three RBI against Stony Brook, Yale, and Quinnipiac.
Before Fairfield: Kurata attended Bishop Montgomery High School where she batted .387 over her four-year career. She helped Bishop Montgomery win the 2007 Del Ray league championship. She secured All-League honors in 2008 and 2010, and was a first-team selection in 2009. She was also an All-Academic team member in 2008, 2009, and 2010. She was also very successful in the classroom, being designated as scholar athlete by the school three times. She graduated from Bishop Montgomery as a gold cord recipient from the California Scholarship Federation for her academic achievement in the classroom, and earned magna cum laude designation. She studies accounting at Fairfield University.
